The Upright Citizens Brigade Training Center is committed to the principle that our students are the heart of our organization. We believe in every student’s right to learn and practice their craft in an open, non-threatening, creative environment.
To achieve this, we ask that you read and agree to our Enrollment Policy.
Classes are non-refundable.
Class Transfers
A transfer may be available more than 7 days before the class depending on availability. Students can transfer themselves from the student portal or their confirmation email. You may also email [email protected] for assistance.
COVID-19
The Upright Citizens Brigade is committed to making a safe environment for all students and staff and will follow all city, county, and state COVID-19 safety protocols. We are taking guidance from LA and NYC County Department of Public Health.
We strongly recommend that our students be fully vaccinated in order to enroll in in-person classes. Students and employees who are feeling sick are encouraged to stay home.
Conduct
Inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and will result in suspension and removal from class. Inappropriate conduct includes, but is not limited to: consumption of drugs or alcohol during class, wanton destruction of physical class space, failure to dispose of garbage properly, bringing uninvited guests to class and inappropriate verbal, physical, or sexual conduct.
Additionally, students are asked to help foster a creative and supportive learning environment without distractions. Students are asked to support their fellow classmates by abstaining from eating in class and talking while students or teachers are talking.
Attendance
We do not allow more than two absences. Students missing more than two classes will be removed from the course and will not be promoted to the next course level.
Improvisation and sketch writing are best learned in creative and supportive learning environments. The best way to support yourself and your classmates is to attend all 8 classes. Absences hinder your growth and affect your ability to support your classmates in class and on stage. If you cannot attend all 8 scheduled classes, we recommend you wait until a course you can fully commit to is available. UCB Training Center understands that emergencies happen, so two absences are allowed. Removal for missing more than two classes means you have forfeited your registration and cannot attend the remaining classes nor participate in the graduation show. Once removed, if you wish to continue your training, you will be required to repeat the level at the full tuition price.
Tardiness
Prompt attendance is expected from all students. Arriving late requires the instructor to explain exercises and concepts again and is considered too disruptive to be allowed. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, you will not be admitted to class and you will be marked as absent.
Leaving Early
Students are expected to be present for the entire class. Leaving more than 30 minutes before the scheduled end time may be considered an absence if the student was not present for all class concepts or did not participate in all required exercises.
Make-Up Policies
We do not offer makeup classes for missed sessions.
Show Requirement
Students in Los Angeles are expected to see at least two shows relevant to the course you are taking. This policy is temporarily on hold for New York and Online.
Learning Aids
Students with alternative learning styles need to get written permission from the UCB Training Center if they wish to use PDAs, audio recording devices, or other learning aids in class. Students approved to use such devices must agree to our specific terms of use. Students requiring special learning aids in class must contact Academic Director Johnny Meeks to arrange a meeting. UCB Training Center reserves the right to request medical documentation to support your request.
Competency
Students are not guaranteed promotion to the next course level. Promotion is contingent on attendance, seeing shows and a demonstration of course concepts.
Contact Information
To ensure delivery of class confirmation emails, please add [email protected]. We may need to reach you with scheduling or location adjustments during the session. Students are responsible for updating school administration with any adjustments to contact information.
Liability
You agree that you choose to voluntarily participate in the course with full knowledge that the activity may be hazardous to yourself and/or your property. You voluntarily assume full responsibility for any risks of loss, property damage or personal injury, including death, that may be sustained as a result of participating in the activity. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UCB LLC and its employees, members & volunteers for any loss, liability, damage or costs, including court costs and attorney’s fees, that may occur as a result of your participation in the activity.
