Pilot Season: Hispanic Heritage Edition

In UCB’s Pilot Season, veteran comedy TV writers take the audience’s suggestion of a show title, and, on the spot, develop a pilot for a brand new show. It could be a sitcom, a prestige drama, or any number of different genres. Talented improvisers then take that pitch and bring it to life on stage.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re putting a spotlight on the brilliant Latine show creators who have been underrepresented in the industry for far too long. Despite the rich diversity of talent and stories, Latine writers have faced staggering underrepresentation in the world of television. With just 4.8% in broadcast, 4.7% in cable, and 4.3% in streaming, these numbers fall significantly short of the 19% Latine representation in the U.S. population. Even more disheartening, Latine representation among actors, writers, and showrunners has decreased from 2021 to 2022.

Come see the creators of Gentefied, Rutherford Falls, and The Diary of a Future President pitch a show from an audience suggestion with a cast of all Latine improvisers ready to perform!

In solidarity with the writers’ strike, all show proceedings will go to the Entertainment Community Fund which provides emergency financial assistance to writers and actors on strike.
