Steve Theiss

[headshot] Steve Theiss writes, performs, and spends most of his time in New York City.

He improvises with the Harold team Creature and co-hosts Improv Nerds at UCBeast. He writes on the Beta team Scraps. Other UCB credits include The Convergence and The Harold. He's a proud member of indie teams Dreamboat, Code Red, Garrison, NWA, Singsong, and Vatican III.

Steve was a finalist for the 2010 Disney ABC TV Writing Program. He writes many TV and feature-length spec scripts, some of which have garnered just enough interest for him to maintain his boyish optimism.

He has been studying improv and sketch writing at UCB since 2009 and has labored under the tutelage of Brandon Gardner, Kevin Hines, Chelsea Clarke, Ben Rodgers, Anthony King, Doug Moe, Porter Mason, Becky Drysdale, Caitlin Tegart, and an assortment of talented others whose names he will drop upon request.

Steve has lived in Chicago and St. Louis and Nebraska and Michigan and St. Louis again and Iowa and Queens and Jersey City…but if you ask him where he's from he says Michigan.

The 'h' in his last name is pronounced like those in Thailand or Thomas. Theiss rhymes with American Idol Season 4 runner-up Bo Bice's last name, Bice.
